Why people join Film Cutters
We hire people who like doing proper work, taking care with details and solving problems on site. Our customers rely on shrink film and stretch film cutters and dispensers every day, so the job calls for steady hands, clear thinking and good manners on the floor.
Since 2008, the team has grown around the needs of packing lines in factories, distribution centres and warehousing sites. That means the work is practical, often hands on and usually tied to real production pressure, especially when a line must keep moving through load-shedding or a busy month end.
Roles we often recruit for
We do not keep a fixed vacancy list on this page, but we regularly look for people in sales, technical support, operations and field service. Some roles are office based in Germiston, while others involve travel to customer sites in Gauteng and further afield.
- Sales and customer support for enquiries, quotations and follow up
- Technical and field service work for installation, repairs and upgrades
- Operations and coordination for scheduling, spares and service records
- Site support for training, safety checks and roll change assistance
What the work involves
The work can involve packing line assessments, fitting cutters and dispensers, checking blade condition, arranging spares and helping operators get the best results from the equipment. On some days the focus is preventative servicing, on others it is a breakdown callout or a safety check before a production run starts.
We value people who notice small issues before they become costly. A loose bracket, a worn blade or an awkward setup can slow a line down, so attention to detail matters. The right person will be calm under pressure and comfortable working with different site rules, shift patterns and hygiene requirements.
Who tends to fit in well here
We work with people who are reliable, willing to learn and ready to speak plainly with customers and teammates. Good timekeeping matters, as does the ability to work neatly in plants where floor space is tight and production schedules are set in advance.
- Strong practical sense and a hands on attitude
- Clear communication with operators, supervisors and procurement teams
- Willingness to travel when a site in Pretoria, Durban or Cape Town needs support
- Respect for safety procedures and plant access rules
Training, support and day to day expectations
New team members are expected to learn our products, our service process and the way different customers run their packing lines. Training can cover operator guidance, equipment handling, basic fault finding and the paperwork that goes with service visits and spares supply.
In a job like this, you are often the face of the company on site, so professionalism matters. That includes neat presentation, careful handling of tools and parts, and giving customers straight answers when they need help quickly. In coastal areas such as Durban and Cape Town, equipment condition and storage can be affected by humidity, so the practical side of the job counts.
