The Germiston team behind every callout
Film Cutters is built around a small, hands-on team that understands packing line pressure, tight schedules and the cost of downtime. Based in Germiston, Ekurhuleni, we support businesses across Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Polokwane, Boksburg and Midrand with shrink film and stretch film cutters, dispensers and related support.
We work with packhouses, warehouses, distribution centres and manufacturing sites that need equipment to be practical, safe and easy to use. Whether it is a new installation, a blade change, a line setup or a breakdown callout, the people below are the ones who make it happen.
- Onsite installation and line setup
- Preventive servicing and safety checks
- Breakdown callouts and repair support
- Spare parts supply and equipment upgrades
Thabo Maseko leads with a practical eye
Thabo Maseko, our Managing Director, founded the business in 2008 and still keeps a close eye on how each job is handled. He works with clients on the bigger picture, from the first site assessment to the final handover, making sure the equipment chosen suits the line speed, film type and the way staff actually work on site.
Thabo is not interested in overcomplicating things. He prefers simple, reliable solutions that hold up in busy environments, including sites dealing with load-shedding, dusty conditions or coastal humidity. His focus is on keeping packing lines moving and making sure clients get support that is direct and useful.
Sales and service planning that fits the line
Naledi Khumalo manages sales and client coordination, helping businesses choose the right cutters and dispensers for their packing setup. She spends time understanding the type of film being used, the level of operator experience and the pace of the line before recommending the best fit. That approach saves time later and helps avoid equipment that is too complicated for day to day use.
Ayanda Dlamini handles service coordination, which means bookings, follow ups and job timing all stay organised. She keeps track of onsite visits, preventive servicing and urgent callouts so clients are not left waiting around. When a line needs attention, Ayanda helps make sure the right technician gets to the right site at the right time, even when things are moving fast.
- Site assessments before installation
- Scheduling for servicing and repairs
- Support for roll change routines
- Clear coordination for multi-site clients
Technical support that keeps equipment working
Johan van Wyk is our Technical Manager and the person many clients want involved when equipment needs careful attention. He handles blade replacement, dispenser repairs, equipment upgrades and technical fault finding, with a strong focus on keeping things safe and consistent. Johan knows that a small fault on a packing line can slow the whole process, so he looks for the cause as well as the immediate fix.
His work often includes checking how the cutter is mounted, how the film is feeding and whether operators are using the equipment correctly. That extra bit of detail helps prevent repeat issues and keeps the line running more smoothly, especially on busy production days where there is little room for interruption.
Operations and records that stay in order
Michelle Naidoo, our Operations Administrator, keeps the paperwork and internal process side steady. She manages order details, job records, stock movement and the admin around spares supply, so the rest of the team can stay focused on site work and client support. It may sound behind the scenes, but good operations make a big difference when a client needs a part quickly or a service history checked.
Michelle also helps keep communication clear between the office, field team and clients. That means fewer delays, better tracking of what was done, and a cleaner handover when equipment is serviced or upgraded. In a business where timing matters, her role keeps the moving parts under control.
Field support from Germiston to the coast
Pieter Smit is our Field Technician and spends much of his time onsite, working directly on cutters and dispensers in real packing environments. He knows how to handle installation work, breakdown callouts, safety checks and operator training with a practical approach that suits busy factories and warehouses. Pieter is often the person clients meet when equipment needs hands-on attention.
He has experience with sites in Gauteng as well as further afield, where conditions can vary a lot from one location to the next. Some sites need help with humidity and film handling, while others need support after power interruptions or long production shifts. Pieter’s job is to make sure the equipment is set up properly and the operators are comfortable using it.
- Blade replacement and dispenser repairs
- Operator training on safe use
- Breakdown response and fault checks
- Support for new line setups and upgrades
