Check the item as soon as it arrives
Before a cutter or dispenser goes onto the line, inspect the carton and the unit carefully. Look for transit damage, missing parts, damaged blades, bent frames, loose fittings, or signs that the wrong item was supplied. If the product is being used in a Germiston warehouse, a Johannesburg packing room, or a coastal site in Durban or Cape Town, it helps to check it before the first full shift starts. That way any issue is easier to trace and the line does not lose time later.
If the packaging is open or the item has already been fitted, note exactly what has happened and keep the original packing where possible. A short written note with the date, job name, and who received the goods makes the inspection easier for our team. Please do not discard damaged parts until the review is complete, even if the fault seems minor.
What to send with a return request
To help us assess the matter properly, include clear details when you submit a return request through the enquiry form on our contact page. The more information we get upfront, the quicker we can confirm whether the unit needs repair, replacement, or a simple part swap.
- Order reference or delivery note number
- Product name and model description
- Date the item was received
- Photos of the item, packaging and any visible damage
- A short description of the issue and when it was first noticed
- The site location, for example Boksburg, Midrand, Polokwane or Pretoria
- Whether the item has been fitted, tested, or used on a packing line
If the unit was used in a dusty or humid area, or near washdown points, mention that as well. Those conditions can affect blades, housings and moving parts, especially where load-shedding or stop-start production has put extra strain on the line.
How we assess a returned product
Once the request comes through, our team reviews the details and may ask for more photos or a site assessment if needed. In some cases we can resolve the matter without a physical return, particularly where a blade, bracket, guide or dispenser setting needs adjustment. If the item must come back to our Germiston base, we will confirm the next step and the safest way to pack it for transport.
Our technical team checks the condition of the unit, the signs of wear, and whether the issue is linked to installation, operator handling, or a defective part. For packing lines that run daily in Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria, we also look at whether the application method matches the film type and the speed of the line. That detail matters, becuase a product can appear faulty when the real cause is setup or usage.
- Visual inspection of the body, blade, fixings and moving parts
- Review of packaging and transport damage
- Function check against the intended use
- Confirmation of missing items or wrong supply
- Advice on repair, replacement or parts support
Return conditions and handling requirements
Returned items should be sent back clean, complete and packed securely so they arrive in a condition that allows proper inspection. If the product has been modified, damaged by misuse, or fitted with non-matching parts, we may need to treat it as a repair rather than a standard return. This is important for cutters and dispensers used on high-volume lines, where a small adjustment can change how the unit performs.
We ask customers to keep the following in mind when preparing a return:
- Use the original packaging where possible
- Remove loose film, tape and residue before packing
- Keep blades protected and handled safely
- Include all fittings, brackets and accessories supplied
- Mark the parcel clearly with the site name and contact person
If a site in Ekurhuleni or Johannesburg needs urgent support because production has stopped, tell us that upfront. We can then prioritise breakdown callouts, spares supply or a temporary solution while the return is processed.
When a return becomes a repair or exchange
Not every problem follows the same path. Some issues can be resolved with a spare blade, a replacement dispenser component, or a quick adjustment on site. Other cases need the complete unit returned for closer inspection. Where a fault is confirmed and the item meets the return requirements, we will guide you on whether repair, exchange or credit is the right route.
For customers operating across multiple branches, for example Germiston, Boksburg, Midrand and Pretoria, we often help compare the fault against the conditions at each site. That can show whether the issue is isolated to one line or linked to how the equipment is being used across the network. It also helps us recommend preventive servicing or operator training so the same fault does not happen again.
Keeping your packing line moving while the return is handled
A return should not bring the whole packing operation to a halt. If you rely on shrink film or stretch film cutters every day, let us know what you need to keep production going while the item is being assessed. We can assist with spares supply, roll change support, equipment upgrades, and site checks to reduce the chance of repeat downtime.
Our team works with sites across South Africa, including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and Polokwane, so we understand the pressure of line stoppages, load-shedding interruptions and tight dispatch schedules. Where needed, we can arrange onsite installation, line setup, preventive servicing and safety checks to support the return process and get the line back on track as soon as possible.
