What our warranty covers on packing line equipment
Warranty support applies to film cutters and dispensers supplied for normal packing line use, when the unit is installed and operated correctly. It is there to cover faults caused by manufacturing defects or material failure during the warranty period, not wear from day-to-day production.
For most sites, the first check is simple: confirm the model, the purchase date and whether the issue is with the cutter body, blade assembly, dispenser frame, fixings or a related part. That helps us separate a warranty matter from damage caused by misuse, poor setup or a loose mount on the line.
- Manufacturing defects in supplied equipment
- Faults appearing during normal use on packing lines
- Failure of supplied parts under correct operation
- Assessment of reported defects before repair or replacement
How to care for your cutter or dispenser
Good care keeps the equipment within warranty conditions and reduces stoppages. In dusty inland plants, especially around Germiston, Boksburg and Midrand, film build-up and debris can affect performance. On coastal sites in Durban and Cape Town, humidity can also affect fixings and moving parts if the unit is left uncleaned.
Operators should clean the unit regularly, check that the blade area is clear, and make sure the dispenser is fitted squarely to the line. If the film is snagging, tearing or feeding unevenly, stop and inspect the unit before it causes a bigger fault. A quick check now can save a costly delay later.
- Keep the cutter and dispenser clean and free of wrapped film
- Use the correct film size and tension for the line
- Check all fasteners after installation and after line movement
- Do not force the blade or modify the unit on site
What can void warranty support
Some issues fall outside warranty because they come from site conditions, incorrect use or unauthorised changes. If a unit has been altered, dropped, over-tightened or fitted onto an unsuitable point on the packing line, the fault may no longer qualify for warranty repair or replacement.
Warranty also does not cover general wear, normal blade consumption, damage caused by poor handling, or problems linked to missed servicing. If the line has been used in a way that exceeds the equipment rating, we will still assess it and advise on the next step, but it may be treated as a chargeable repair.
- Blade wear from normal use
- Misuse, rough handling or impact damage
- Unauthorised modifications or repairs
- Poor installation, loose mounting or unsuitable line conditions
How to log a warranty claim
Clients should send a warranty request through the enquiry form on our contact page. Include the site location, equipment type, a clear description of the fault and, if possible, a photo or short note about when the problem started. The more detail you send, the faster we can decide whether a site visit or parts check is needed.
Once we receive the request, our team reviews the details and may ask for extra information, such as the installation date or recent service history. In many cases we can guide your supervisor through a basic check first, which often rules out a simple setting issue before a technician is sent out.
- Submit the claim through the contact form only
- Include the site, model and fault details
- Keep the unit available for inspection if needed
- Do not discard damaged parts until the claim is assessed
What happens during assessment and repair
When a claim is accepted for assessment, we may arrange an onsite inspection, parts inspection or a repair plan depending on the fault and the site. Our Germiston base supports customers across Johannesburg, Pretoria, Boksburg, Midrand, Durban, Cape Town and Polokwane, with breakdown callouts where required.
If the fault is covered, we will advise on the repair route, expected timing and any parts needed. If the issue is not covered, we explain the cause and quote the repair options clearly. Where possible, we also check related parts so the same problem does not reappear after the job is done. It saves time and keeps the line moving.
Our technical team works with production staff and maintenance teams so the assessment is practical, not just paperwork. We focus on getting the cutter or dispenser back into service with as little disruption as possible.
Keeping warranty valid after installation
After installation, the best warranty support comes from regular servicing and correct operator habits. That includes preventive servicing, safety checks, blade replacement when due, and proper roll change support. If the unit is moved, upgraded or fitted into a different section of the line, it should be checked again before production restarts.
For sites running long shifts or handling high volumes, we recommend keeping a simple service record. Note the date of installation, the date of each blade change, and any unusual noise, drag or misfeed. That record helps with warranty decisions and makes it easier to spot the real cause if the line starts acting up. A small note book at the line often helps more than people expect.
- Schedule preventive servicing before faults build up
- Keep training records for operators and line setters
- Record blade changes and repairs by date
- Ask for a site assessment after major line changes
